Overview of Workshop![]()
This unique and experiential workshop facilitated by a psychotherapist/author and a professional musician will address the 'quakes' that occur in the lives of both our clients and in our own, and will explore how we might transform our challenges into opportunities that offer profound personal, professional and spiritual growth.
Learning Objectives:
After completing this workshop participants will be able to:
| Discuss the benefits of various experiential and holistic counseling techniques and begin to incorporate them into their work with clients. | |
| Identify the cultural and professional myths that inhibit emotional and spiritual development and general well-being. | |
| Describe the anatomy of a BirthQuake and possess tools to not only facilitate recovery but promote post traumatic growth. | |
| Incorporate elements of the BASIC ph model of healing into their work via the use of art, music, journaling, and other techniques. | |
| Demonstrate an understanding and appreciation of various cultural stories regarding suffering and spirituality and how helpers might most effectively address these stories. | |
| Discuss how aspects of our own experiences and professional training can contribute to depression and burnout, and what preventative measures we can take. |

Seminar Leader:
Tammie Byram Fowles, LISW, Ph.D. is the author of "BirthQuake: A Journey to Wholeness," and is currently revising her work, "Finding the Forest: The Incorporation of Holistic Principles into a Brief Treatment Model with Survivors of Sexual Abuse." Dr. Fowles offers training, clinical consultation and psychotherapy to human services providers, and facilitates personal growth retreats and workshops. She has appeared on both national radio and public television.
